A teleradiology career has many benefits:
- Teleradiologists can work from anywhere. If you love to travel, a teleradiology career will allow you to work a regular schedule and satisfy your wanderlust.
- Teleradiologists have no commute. You don’t have to waste hours traveling to and from work when you work from your home office.
- Teleradiologists can work full time and still pursue other interests. You don’t have to spend every day cooped up inside a hospital. When you work at night, you can devote some of your daytime hours to your other passions. Want to be a photographer, musician, or writer? You’ll have time for that with a teleradiology career.
We’d be remiss if we didn’t also tell you about the cons of a teleradiology job. Some of the more challenging parts of a career in teleradiology include:
- You won’t have much human interaction at work. Although you’ll always be able to talk to your colleagues via phone, email or an instant messenger service, it doesn’t compare to face-to-face communication.
- Most teleradiologists have to work at least some nighttime hours, and that can be a difficult adjustment. When you start a teleradiology job, your schedule will change, but nobody else’s will. While you’re trying to sleep after a long shift, your friends and family will just be getting up to start their day.
