Inclement Weather Policies
Is Your Radiology Practice Ready?

‘Tis the season. Yes, winter is upon us, a time for snowmen, skiing, postcard landscapes and holiday cheer. And, of course, the time for bad weather. As turbulent as inclement weather and its impact might be on our personal lives, weather potentially effects employers with locations in areas that experience severe weather even more.
We’ll tell you what you need to know to create your own policy:
- Responsibilities of essential and non-essential employees
- How to pay exempt and non-exempt employees
- How to deal with tricky “what-if” possibilities
There are many components of an effective bad/inclement weather/”holy cow, what just happened” policy. We will discuss as many as we can think of to help you create an inclement weather policy for your radiology practice. Request the PDF.

Technology Update: RadRemote
RadRemote is a video chat tool that allows referring physicians to have a face-to-face consult with ONRAD radiologists. This new tool combines cost-effective teleradiology coverage with the personal communication of a partner in the next room. You can view images with an ONRAD radiologist in real time, discuss a report and ask follow up questions. The technology is easy to use and only requires a webcam and a simple software download.
RadRemote is currently available in beta. For more information about RadRemote, or to schedule a demo, please contact:

Technology Update: RIS Upgrade
The IT team is currently working with our RIS vendor, ThinAir Data, to implement a major RIS upgrade. The computer hardware that the RIS runs on will be overhauled, which will allow for a “virtualized” platform that uses VMWare to drive a powerful, fault-tolerant environment. These changes create an ideal web-based platform for the new ThinAir RIS, “TRIS 8″. This new “cloud” based platform will provide our customers with many benefits including:
- Modern, web-based GUI that is easy to navigate and does not require and special communication ports, such as RDP. Full, secure and encrypted access over standard internet ports, such as SSL (HTTPS).
- Scan and upload paperwork with standard TWAIN based scanners, or just attaching documents directly to orders.
- The VMWare platform allows ONRAD to run multiple instances of the RIS application and database across multiple physical hardware devices. Even in the event of a complete hardware failure of the production system, a redundant system will be available to customers immediately.
GO LIVE is currently scheduled for early second quarter. Demonstrations are available now! To schedule a demo, contact Jesse Salen at 800-848-5876 x2301 or jsalen@onradinc.com.
